Can anyone tell me what the deal is with this? It is growing on the lower stalk of my plant where I first topped it. The photo is an extreme close-up.

Looks like you have some bud rot. If there are small sections of bracts that are browning then I would clip them out ASAP to slow spreading. If it indeed bud rot then added ventilation may help -
I cut her out. Don't think it was bud rot. Everything looked nice and green. But better safe than sorry. Thanks gbauto.Comment
