Hello Potatoes. Autoflowering strains are a great idea for noobs as they are pretty easy to grow and are super low maintenance. As with all plants though, you need to think about a few basic things and make sure you have those covered. Air, Soil, Light, Warmth, Water, Food.
Air: Has the plants got access to lots of fresh air. Most grows use fans to move air around the plant. Typically an extractor fan that vents the room, pulling clean air in, and a desk fan or pc fan that points at the plant. It is bending in the breeze that gives plant stems their strength and without this plants sometimes become a bit thin and weak stemmed. You should also consider smells here. Your Auto NL will kick up a bit of a stink once she is in flowering and if stealth is an issue you will need to think about putting in a carbon filter to clean them up. Of course, this isn't essential for the growth of the plant, but you might want to think about it.
Soil:It is best to use soil or potting compost that you have bought from a garden supplier. Soil out of the yard will work but may have all sorts of bugs and fungi in it that can give you problems later on. Mix the soil with about 40% vermiculite or something similar to increase drainage. Cannabis doesn't like to have wet feet and more oxygen around the roots will give you much better growth.
Light: You don't say what sort of lighting you have. Cannabis is very greedy for light and loves a lot of it. You will hear a few different theories on how much light to give to autos, but if you set a timer for 20 hours on and 4 hours off you won't go wrong. It's a good way to start. What sort of lights do you have?
Warmth: Cannabis will do best at between 70 and 80 degrees F. Your light will give off some heat so get an idea of how warm your grow area is when the lights are running.
Water: Over watering is one of the most common noobie mistakes. Let your plant dry out between waterings. Give her a good drink, and then do not water again until the soil is dry. Stick your finger into the soil. If it is moist about an inch down then there is no need to water.
Food: Again, too much is worse than too little. Your young auto will not require any food for the first couple of weeks. After that you can feed a general fertilizer at a diluted strength. It is on the subject of nutrients that most noobies get confused. Read this simple page on the website for good background info. Your auto will be flowering after about 3 weeks so you should look for a high phosphorous food after that. That's the middle one of the N:P:K ratio which is marked on all fertilizers. If you want to ask for feed for fruiting tomatoes in the garden supply shop then that should be pretty close.
That's enough info to get you started. If you tell us a bit more about your set up, the space available/lights/feed you are using etc. then we can help you out.
Do lots of reading about it, this site is a great place to start.
Let us know how you get on, some pics would be great.
