The exact value is not important. Just a big value 1/4W resistor to protect yourself in case of a malfunction of your soldering iron and the like.
Besides, I am not an expert in growing green. I am just a technologist in electronics. This series is meant to be a think-tank more than a proper tutorial. But I have experimented with different house plants with satisfying results.
