  • Growing an "Eldorado" Outdoors.

I am transferring my thread, from the Growing Outdoors section, with hopes that it will allow me to post, and add photo's, here in this section. This photo (below) of An Eldorado, just before harvest.

These powerful results, is what I've set my goal on, and will try to achieve, in this grow.

I am starting a feminized Seed, that I ordered from Best Seed BankHerbies Head Shop - Best Seed Bank, /via Nirvana.

Mexican strains are thought of as tall, upright plants of moderate to large size with light to dark green, large leaves. The leaves are made up of long, medium width, moderately serrated leaflets arranged in a circular array. The plants mature relatively early in comparison to strains from Colombia or Thailand and produce many long floral clusters with a high calyx-to-leaf ratio and highly cerebral psychoactivity. Michoacan strains tend to have very slender leaves and a very high calyx-to-leaf ratio as do Guerreran strains, but Oaxacan strains tend to be broader-leafed, often with leafier floral clusters. Oaxacan strains are generally the largest and grow vigorously, while Michoacan strains are smaller and more delicate. Guerreran strains are often short and develop long, upright lower limbs. Seeds from most Mexican strains are fairly large, ovoid, and slightly flattened with a light colored grey or brown, unmottled perianth. Smaller, darker, more mottled seeds have appeared in Mexican marijuana during recent years. This may indicate that hybridization is taking place in Mexico, possibly with introduced seed from the largest seed source in the world, Colombia. No commercial seeded Cannabis crops are free from hybridization and great variation may occur in the offspring. More recently, large amounts of hybrid domestic seed have been introduced into Mexico. It is not uncommon to find Thai and Afghani phenotypes in recent shipments of Cannabis from Mexico.

Being a subtropic Sativa, the flowering period of the Eldorado mexican marijuana variety is quite long, between 11 and 13 weeks (77 – 90+) days to reach full maturity, making Eldorado a good strain for “gradual harvesting” starting with the top and other mature buds, then harvesting the lower less mature buds a week or two later, as they mature fully.

Nirvana’s hidden gem?. Roja-haired sativa beauty?. Giant main cola?. Strong psychedelic high?. Connaisseur smoke.

      Transplanted on Day 28

Into a 10 gallon AREOBAG, with hopes that it will grow bigger, than in the 5 gallon buckets that I previously used.

                  Thanks, vapornation!

I saw that, and took those photo's, back to the photo shop app., and reduced their size, a~bit. that seems to have worked.

                    Day 37

Because she is grown from seed, growth is a little slower than with a clone. Still on mild strength nutrient, Grow Big. I am feeding, every other day.

                      Day 41

This plant has already grown over a foot tall, and because she will be probably be finished~up, put to bloom indoors, I must start topping, now. I have increased her nutrient solution, slightly, with Fox Farms, Grow Big. Click on image, twice, for better view

                        Day 45

Increased Nutrients, F.F. Grow Big, slightly. Topping was not successful. Click twice on Image to see better. It turned out to be more like a femming, that slowed down the top growth, and allowed more branching to take place. After much considering, I'm reluctant to topping her till she is in bloom, and gets to big for her grow area.

                            Day 47

This plant amazes me. It's so sturdy, and growing vigorously, every day. She will grow very tall, and I have to do some more topping, and trimming, to keep her from reaching the 8-10 ft. height, that she will reach. also mentioned in my other plants thread (Jock Horror), about nosy neighbors, I might bring her indoors, to stay safe from detection. I must consider a move like this to prevent any trouble, in the future.

                              Day 56

Day's have been windy here, and I've watched her take on some big gusts of wind, That bent her half way over. So I put in a bamboo stake, to keep her from snapping off, and if nothing else, but just for peace of mind.

Right now her dark period indoors, ends at 5am, with the light going on, till 8am. Then she goes outdoors into the direct sunlight, till I lose it behind the trees, around 2pm.

Then back indoors till 11pm, when the light goes off, and her dark period of 6 hours begins again. 18/6 probably for a week or so, more, and then I'll put her to Bloom.

Feeding every 3rd day, because of lower temps, and partial cloud cover, so less water is needed. She is growing really fast, and I have reduced her nutrient intake to every 3rd feeding. My soil mix includes Blood Meal for extra nitrogen, and that is doing it's job.

The frayed leaves, are from the femming, I messed~up on. This is such a robust and well structured plant, that I'm not in any hurry to cut on her, after watching her leaves grow at least a half inch, a day. Normally I would just top her and be done with it, (which I did try, about 3 weeks ago, unsuccessfully) ( I didn't cut enough off, to make it work) but this is such a magnificent plant, that I just want to let her grow, and worry about her height, later in bloom. 24in. tall, and 14in. across.
