Need help in growing

I've been trying to grow medical marijuana from seeds given to me by friends for over a year now, indoors and out, and I can't get them past the seedling stage. They just grow about an inch, fall over and die. I'm probably putting them in too wet soil and planting too late in the year <?>. I'm near Houston Tx and we get a lot of spring rain as well as moist summer heat; semitropical. Need suggestions.

For how many plants/m2 you may need to estimate and adjust once your crop is growing. It will depend heavily on your growing set up, watering, lighting etc.

any #g followed by /m2 is a SOG value given. It is the yield amount for the variety grown in a "SEA OF GREEN" grow for 1 square meter.

EXAMPLE:

1 600w HID
1sq meter ebb&flow w/under Res. approx 15gl
4"x4" rockwool cubes spaced evenly for 12 cubes (what I do in one grow) but you can fill the tray with cubes touching for real speedy and compact plants.

In my time I have found this amount given by seed co's as an approx. amount.

Expected yields given per M2 normally relate to a SOG set up under a 1000W HID. Seed companies tend to exaggerate a bit, also worth bearing in mind that they have top class professional growers on hand. These targets are achievable but are the best case scenario.
In answer to the original question. If you think you might be over watering you almost definitely are. Cannabis doesn't like to get its feet too wet. Also, if you allow the soil to dry out a bit the roots will stretch down to find moisture. If you water too often the roots just stay up top.
