Will be using an aeroponics system with rock wool as the growing medium. I would like opinions on germinating seeds then placing in the rock wool or do it all in the rock wool. I've watched video on both options. But I don't know if 1 is better than the other.

As you say, both methods work. It's a matter of personal preference. There's more than one way of doing things and one isn't always better than the other. Just different.
I was always a soil grower and find that the paper towel method works almost without fail. In aeroponics systems I have seen they have germinated directly in the Rockwool every time.
If you are growing more than one plant, why not try both and then in the future just stick to the one you prefer.
